The issues that confront the citizens of various lands are multitudinous. Our specific reactions, and how we address each, runs the entire gamut- from concern to unconcern to total indifference.
Oftentimes, however, as voyeurs, our response to others perceived plights are totally incongruent with how those we view as "suffering" view themselves.
"Relative"
is a piece that was composed after I visited the city of Soweto, South Africa. The local children exhibited such a carefree, happy attitude that several within the tourist party of which I, and my family, belonged made the mistake of questioning how they could possibly possess such joy.
Ther response that was conveyed regarding those assumptions enriched my day and the entirety of my trip.
I pray that upon listening, you are able to envision and feel what I felt.
