In this week’s study, I continue with Chapter 19 verses 17 and 19. Before I get into the study, I discuss David Spangler, who is the Director of Planetary Initiative for the United Nations, member of the Lucis Trust as well as a Freemason and an Outspoken Luciferian.
Chapter 19 continues and concludes the final period of events, which is called the bowl period. After the bowl introduction in chapters 12-15, the bowl events began in chapter 16, where we saw all seven bowl events described. However as explained there, chapter 16 was not the conclusion of the bowls. Rather, the description of the bowl period continued into chapters 17 and 18 where the bowl interlude was presented.
Here in chapter 19, the bowls continue with a resumption of the seventh bowl event. That is, chapter 19 picks up where we left off at the end of chapter 16. The sixth bowl event in Rev 16:12-16 described nations gathering at Armageddon to make war against Yahweh, and then the seventh bowl event began in Rev 16:17-21 with an enormous earthquake and hail storm. However, it curiously never mentioned the outcome of the war. That glaring deficiency is resolved here in chapter 19.
This chapter describes the conclusion of Yahweh’s wrath on earth, and it must be considered part of the seventh bowl because Rev 15:1 stated that Yahweh’s wrath would be finished in the bowls.
In our last study we finished in verse 16 where John ended his 6th vision of the heavens. Now beginning with verse 17, John attention is returned to the events on this earth.
In Revelation 19:7-9, we read about the great meal in heaven for the marriage of the Lamb. That will be the happiest and most wonderful occasion.
As it happens a great meal of a very different kind is happening on earth. This event upon the earth is truly awful. The antichrist has gathered the world’s rulers with their armies to fight against Yahshua Messiah. The defeat of antichrist’s forces is a complete defeat, and very terrible.
Now here is the scene. The armies of the antichrist have surrounded Jerusalem, prepared to engage with their mortal enemy, the warrior king who obviously contests the beast’s authority as ruler of the world.
17 And I saw an angel standing in the Sun; = An angel proclaimed the fall of Babylon, and now an angel proclaims the destruction of the Beast and his confederacy.
in the sun = so as to be eye-catching in sight of the whole world. This is a mild transition, not away from this scene, but to make a new declaration about this scene.
and gather yourselves = Now imagine the terror of this scene. Imagine if you were a soldier and you were assembled on that battlefield and suddenly you saw that and heard that.
But notice. This is the insult of all insults. Here the angel doesn’t even address the antichrist, doesn’t even address the vast military forces, but rather he summons the vultures to come to supper, and their corpses will be the main dish. This is the ultimate disgrace to say, “You are about to become rotten flesh for the birds.”
together unto Yahweh's great supper; = The “great supper” given to the birds shall be the unburied dead, indicating a quick, massive, and disgraceful slaughter.
18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings = Of the kings under the control of the beast and the false prophet.
And the flesh of captains = Of those secondary to kings in command. The Greek word is χιλιάρχων chiliarchōn - denoting captains of a thousand, or, as we should say, commanders of a regiment.
And the flesh of mighty men = The word here means “strong,” and the reference is to the robust soldiery - rank and file in the army.
