In this week’s study, I continue to discuss Jezebel that false prophetess of verse 20 in Chapter 2.
Jezebel = “chaste” 1 Kings 16:30-34; 21:25; 2 Kings 9:22. This patroness of Baal-worship will have her sinister anti-type in the future.
I connect the dots from Jezebel to Ahab, to Baal, to Moloch, to the Canaanites, to Canaan the son of Ham.
What about this Baal? The name is appropriated to the principal male god of the Phoenicians.
The chief male deity, as Ashtoreth is the chief goddess, of the Canaanites and Phoenicians
Baal is also associated with Asherah, inaccurately translated "THE GROVE" or "groves"
Traditionally, Moloch has been understood as referring to a Canaanite god!
We see scriptures that condemn Israelites who engage in practices associated with Moloch, and most associate Moloch with the use of children as offerings. The activity of causing children "to pass over the fire" is mentioned, without reference to Moloch, in numerous other verses of the bible
Child sacrifice is non-existent today — or is it!!! — But that hasn’t always been the case. Today the two spirits of Jezebel and Ahab work in tandem to compromise living a godly life but wanting to appear godly. They affect people today who are in the church. Both will struggle with pride because they both were hurt growing up and the Leviathan spirit (Job 41) tells them not to trust anyone to make decisions for them and that their decisions are the best.
My intention is to take this study to a deep level. Deeper than most of you are used to! I am asking no one to agree with me; however I do ask that you check every detail that I present out for yourself.
Don’t end up like those in Hosea 4:6 ‘My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God (Elohim), I will also forget thy children.’
But, be like those in 2Timothy 2:15 ‘Study to shew thyself approved unto God (Yahweh), a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.’
