In this week’s study, I continue in Chapter 3, verse 3, with the Church of Sardis
I go into a rant of the Churches not “holding fast” to the Gospel of Yahshua Messiah, sharing 3 news articles.
3 If = note the condition
if therefore thou shalt not watch = and preserve truth, and hold fast the form of sound words, and keep to the order, as well as the faith of the Gospel, and constantly attend divine worship, and look for the coming and kingdom of The Messiah.
Here is the warning. If we are not awake we will not be ready for the Messiah when He returns. This is especially appropriate today because I believe we are living in the end times. We need to wake up spiritually and be ready. We need to be alert. We need to read the signs of the times and understand what the coming of the Messiah will be like. There are many Christians today who will be fooled by the antichrist and the false prophet because they will come and pretend to be Elijah and Christ returned. We already have the seal of Yahweh.
Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
1 John 4:1 - Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of Yahweh: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
2 Peter 2:1 - But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
4 There will always be a faithful remnant of Christians as salt and light to the world. Yahweh had reserved to Himself three thousand faithful during the time of Ahab and Jezebel in Israel even though Elijah thought he might be the only believer left. There is no great end time revival prophesied in the Bible, but rather a great time of apostasy and falling away. But Yahweh will always have His small flock who have entered by the narrow gate and have taken the narrow path.
Lu 12:32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom
Ro 11:5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.
But a Christian can soil those clothes again when he chooses to live in sin and out of fellowship and away from obedience to the Messiah.
Jude 21-23 Keep yourselves in the love of Yahweh, looking for the mercy of our Lord Yahshua Messiah unto eternal life. And of some have compassion, making a difference: And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
So we must keep away from the dirtying effects of the world, the flesh and the devil and not give in to our sin nature. We must also realize that trying to save ourselves by works looks to Yahweh like filthy rags. We must allow the Holy Spirit to work in our new nature convicting, rebuking, encouraging, teaching us. Remember that the consequences for Christians of getting our clothes soiled by the world and losing our faith are dire.
Don’t end up like those in Hosea 4:6 ‘My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God (Elohim), I will also forget thy children.’
But, be like those in 2Timothy 2:15 ‘Study to shew thyself approved unto God (Yahweh), a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.’
