In our last study we started this 8th Chapter which brings us to the Trumpets. Remember in our last study I discuss the fact that we have determined that Revelation is not in chronological order; it brings up another interesting question. I will get into the 1st and 2nd Trumpet Sound.
Here we have the whole of the six Trumpets. The six refer to the earth; the seventh consists of the third Vision "in heaven." So with the Seals: six referred to the earth, and the seventh was opened "in heaven." It is the same with the seven Trumpets; six Trumpets refer to the earth, the seventh refers to heaven. Moreover, they are divided into four and three: the four being grouped together and the last three being the three "Woe" Trumpets.
The Bible indicates in Revelation that seven trumpets will sound before the end of the age and the Second Coming of Yahshua Messiah. Five of the seven have already sounded as evidenced by critical moments in recent history, and a third world war, which is the triggering event of the sixth trumpet, may have already begun. My understanding of Biblical prophecies and the events that have already come to pass, will guide me in what to expect when the final two trumpets sound.
The first four Trumpets and their results are recorded with shortness; while the last three are set forth in more detail. The four occupy only seven verses; the last three occupy some fifty verses.
The first of the four affects the earth; the fourth affects the heavens; while the second and third affect the waters of the earth. Thus all is recorded in perfect order.
So we see in this verse 7, that John describes an apocalyptic vision. His vision explains the triggering event of the sounding of the first trumpet — hail and fire mixed with blood falling to the ground, and approximately 33% of all of the grass and trees in the known world destroyed.
No previous wars occurred with one million deaths.
The first war fought with airplanes; hence hail and fire mingled with blood as bombs fell.
The first time official “scorched earth policy” was employed – burned all green grass as armies retreated.
During World War I, large amounts of artillery shells and chemical agents were released on troops for the first time in history through modern warfare, killing over 8 million people. Soldiers on both sides burned vast tracts of land in order to eliminate any natural or man-made items that their enemies could use.
Could this be the First Trumpet Sound? Just a passing thought.
Verses 8-9 I believe that it is possible that this 2nd Trumpet could have been WW2.
WHY? World War II is also the event that was triggered by the sounding of the second trumpet. The Bible explains that a third of the ships involved in the conflict that coincides with the activation of this trumpet will be destroyed. During World War II, approximately one third of the ships that participated in the conflict were sunk. In turn, the nuclear bomb deployed at Hiroshima resembled “something like a great mountain burning with fire,” a sight that was new on the world stage.
Approximately 105,000 ships participated in WWII; approximately 36,000 of them were sunk – one-third (as prophesied).
The first employment of a nuclear bomb would look exactly like a mountain burning with fire.
We have seen that app. 52 million people died. Listen to the accounts of the mass murders of Jews although Europe between 1940 –1945. Don’t forget about what took place in Japan on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, The Atomic Bomb! Could that “great mountain” been Germany under the leadership of Adolf Hitler? Who literally killed millions of Jews!
Could this be the Second Trumpet? Just a passing thought!
