The Book of Revelation – Study #7
In this week’s study, I continue in verse 9 with Patmos. I go into some detail on this Island. In verse 10 I share with you why I believe this is the foundation of this Book.
Here are some of my notes from these verses.
Patmos = A rugged and bare island in the Aegean Sea, 20 miles south of Samos, and 24 miles west of Asia Minor. It was the scene of the banishment of St. John, in the reign of Domitian, A.D. 95. Patmos is divided into two nearly equal parts, a northern and a southern, by a very narrow isthmus where, on the east side, are the harbor and the town.
On the hill, to the south, crowning a commanding height, is the celebrated monastery, which bears the name of, "John the Divine." Halfway up the descent is the cave, or grotto, where tradition says that St. John received the Revelation.
10 Now we come to the verse in which I believe sets the foundation for this book of the Apocalypse of Yahshua Messiah. This is why I went to great lengths in that verse 7, when we discussed the “clouds”, showing you the links of the importance of clouds contained within the Words of Yahweh. Many of the Churches of today, especially those that teach that false doctrine of “rapture” [any moment now, caught up in the sky] will try to convince you that this Lord’s Day, is Sunday. This is a false teaching. What is this book about? Is it not about that coming, that revealing, that return of Yahshua Messiah? When we study Yahweh’s Words, we must always keep the topic, subject in focus. What is the topic? The return of Yahshua Messiah! Who is the subject? Yahshua Messiah! What is the object? The day of His return! Therefore John became present on that day when the Lord of Lords and King of Kings was to return. John is given us an insight on what to expect of to that glorious day!

Allow me to clear up some words that you may hear me say. First of all you will hear me use the words Yahweh and Yahshua Messiah instead of God and Jesus Christ. I found out through the years that the word God may not necessarily mean the same to everyone. For instance, in Freemasonry the number 1 requirement is that you believe in a God. Doesn’t matter what religion you are as long as you believe in a God. I personally like to use these words Yahweh and Yahshua Messiah. To me this puts me in a closer spiritual relationship with our Creator. I am not a so called Messianic Teacher! I come to realize that every time I inhale or exhale I am saying Yahweh. Try saying Yahweh and see if you are not inhaling and exhaling. After all we our created in His image!
My intention is to take this study to a deep level. Deeper than most of you are used to! I am asking no one to agree with me; however I do ask that you check every detail that I present out for yourself.
Don’t end up like those in Hosea 4:6 ‘My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God (Elohim), I will also forget thy children.’
But, be like those in 2Timothy 2:15 ‘Study to shew thyself approved unto God (Yahweh), a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.’
