This is a special episode.  I get to speak with my friend, mentor and former boss, Neal Spruce.  I was working in my first management role in the health and fitness industry.  Our company, a small Gold’s Gym chain in the New York/New Jersey area, took on a new program, APEX Fitness. n We were looking to offer a more complete nutritional solution to our members.  I was sent to a five-day educational seminar to learn more about Apex on an educational and operational level.  What I got was far more than an education.  Neal was the founder and CEO of Apex.  He was also the lead presenter for that school.  What I did not realize at the time was that I was about to step into an environment of complete belief, direction, and purpose.  I was never the same.  I went back to work not just with the intention of growing the businesses but creating a cause.

It was a fortunate time in my life.  The owner of Gold’s Gym helped me reframe who I thought I was.  When I met Neal, he gave me a glimpse into who I believed I could become.  It was those circumstances, and meeting Neal that would lead me to become the Director of Professional Development for the National Academy of Sports Medicine, just a few years later.

It’s not an exaggeration to say that the people Neal attracted and the movement he created shaped the industry.   In this episode Neal shares what he has learned about leadership, culture, wellbeing, and infectious authenticity over the course of his extraordinary career.

Neal Spruce is the founder and CEO of dotFIT Worldwide.  He is an author, licensed teacher, researcher, bodybuilding champion, consultant, and speaker.  He is the former owner and chairman of the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).  Neal and our team spent over a decade growing NASM into a global leader in providing evidence-based certifications.  His partnerships and work in the fitness industry extend wide and deep.  He is an icon who has passionately impacted countless lives, including my own.

 Enjoy!
