Description

TW: Before continuing to listen to today's podcast, we caution you, as sensitive and hard topics such as suicide, abuse, self-harm, neglect, homelessness, racism, colonial violence, and systematic discrimination are discussed and talked about in this episode.

Please make sure to have good coping mechanisms available for you to, listen with caution, take breaks, and we truly thank you for listening.

In this episode, we have an amazing guest who goes by the name Some-Sum, also known as Grizzly Bear, his paper name is Ryan James Summers and he is a spoken word poet performance artist and writer from Amiskwaciwaskahikan Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

His work covers anti-colonialism, indigenous spirituality, his own personal story and the relationship between self and the world around us.

Jo, B, and Linda were honoured that Some shared his story with us and that he was able to talk about Men's Mental Health and all the societal issues that hinder men's ability to talk about their mental health. Topics covered in this episode include but are not limited to: experiences with Bipolar Disorder, the patriarchy and mental health, how we can support men in our lives, and Some-Sum's intersections with mental health.

We hope you learn from Some's story, his bravery, generosity and kindness and that his story inspires you in some way, as it did to us. Thank you so much for listening to this very special, long, sometimes fun, transformational, and emotional episode (PS. Linda and B even cry).
