This chapter begins with an interaction between Jesus and some Pharisees that take issue with the lack of attention being shown by the disciples to the traditional/ceremonial washing of hands that is done by the Jews prior to eating. This opens the door for some teaching on what truly makes one clean or unclean...and, spoiler alert, it's not what goes in, it's what comes out!
