In our latest episode, we will examine the life and death of Anneliese Michel, who was the inspiration behind the film The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Anneliese was raised by devout Catholic parents, and felt the need to “atone” for the sins of others. As a teenager, Anneliese was diagnosed with epilepsy. Plagued by depression, seizures and hallucinations, Anneliese’s family turned to the Catholic church. Annelise would undergo 67 exorcisms over the course of nine months. At the time of her death, she had withered away to just 68 lbs. Was this a case of a demonic possession? Or was it a case of religious fanaticism taken to a deadly extreme?  Listen and decide for yourself.
