This episode brings us to the end of the New Testament, and the end of that mysterious, daunting, fascinating, perplexing, confusing, intriguing, challenging, kind of scary book we all call Revelation; the book that comes with its own built-in blessing for reading it. (Revelation 1:3)
For some of you, this has felt like a race from start to finish, the whole New Testament in 42 episodes! On the other hand for some of you, it’s felt like a deep dive into the Bible because it’s been a long time since you spent this much soaking in scripture. So let me just say, if you have made it this far, congratulations. But remember in the end, it’s not just about doing a deep dive into scripture, it’s about letting the Spirit of God do a deep dive through scripture into us.
And that’s why over and over again, you have heard me talking about listening, learning, and leaning. We listen to the voice of God through the Spirit of God making the Word of God come alive for the people of God. We listen. Because in the end whoever gets our ears, ultimately gets our hearts. We learn values and principles and promises. We are learning to see life through Jesus-eyes. In fact, Paul challenges us to enroll in the school of Jesus. And finally, it’s not over till we lean into the Word; until we respond.
So in this episode, we finish this series of listening, learning, and leaning into the New Testament as we finish listening to, learning from, and leaning into the last six chapters of Revelation. And for our pause in the video...it's Revelation 21, hands down, favorite passage of Revelation, the description of our home!
