On this episode of The Another Way To See It podcast, we complete our intense exploration of grief, by discussing the ways ritual is an essential element in grief tending. Ritual, Francis says, “provides the elements necessary to help transform whatever it is we are carrying in our psyches.”

We have been using Francis Weller’s book- The Wild Edge of Sorrow: Rituals of Renewal and the Sacred Work of Grief, as a jumping off point and guide to this exploration, we have gone through the five gates that Francis has written about and are on our own for the discussion of further potential gates. We acknowledge that there are many many ways to name, explore,  experience, and tend grief. Francis has given context, language, and probably most importantly the permission and invitation that we must befriend our grief, bring it close, and offer the care and compassion sorely missing from our modern society.

Francis Weller is a psychotherapist, writer, and soul activist. We highly recommend that you find a copy of this book that you can write in because it is such a valuable resource for the inevitable encounters that we all have or will have with grief.
