Dewhitt has a social justice conversation with two alumni of the Washington Negro School located in Monroe City, Missouri, Mrs. Alice Smith, and Mr. Howard Pruitt. The Washington School is on the National Register for Historic Places. To qualify, properties eligible for listing include buildings, districts, sites, structures, and objects that are significant to local, state, or national history because of the integrity of their location, design, setting, materials, feeling, and association.
