Hello beautiful people

On today’s podcast we have one of my favourite people in this entire world, Nick Iadanza. Nick is an English teacher, husband, proud father of two and Australian Survivor All Star, having been a participant on Season 1 and Season 5; Season 1 being when Nick and I first met out on an island of Samoa.

What I personally love about this podcast is the authenticity that Nick brings. He shares vulnerably about his journey into adulthood that was, as he describes, bookended by the traumatic experience of slowly losing his mum; living in this space between not wanting to focus on his mother’s deteriorating health but also aware of the somewhat evitable end to this decline, and the effect that this had on his adolescence.

He shares of the pride he has for his ancestors who immigrated to Australia and the bravery that it took to provide the safety and opportunities that now he and his family enjoy because of their enduring courage.

He shares of being a teacher and the responsibility you have in this position to humanise your students and yourself, by appropriately relaying your own stories of vulnerability that they can connect with.

And he shares about his experience of being on Australian Survivor, and how from the age of 12 he was absolutely Survivor obsessed; experiencing this internal knowing that one day he would be on the show, despite what others thought. Living his dream has truly made him realise, what he describes as an ‘overdone axiom’, that anything is possible; if there is something that you want bad enough, you can make it happen. And he emphasises to simply chase that feeling of being alive; whatever that is for you.

Please rate, review, share, subscribe, become part of the To Be Human Collective, and enjoy this humouring podcast with the endearing Nick Iadanza.
