Hello beautiful people

On today’s podcast we have the passionate John Gray. John is a speaker, teacher and coach on love and relationships for the last 40 years, and is the author of the famous book Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus and his new book Beyond Mars & Venus: Relationship Skills For Our Complex Modern World.

What I personally love about this conversation is being able to connect with John and get to know him and his opinions on a deeper level. I remember when I was very young I came across the book ‘Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus’ and always thought it was such a fascinating book. Everyone seemed to know about it and have something to say about it. What I didn’t know about John, that he shares in this podcast, is that he was ‘cancelled’ in the early 2000s for being what he notes as ‘sexist’. This is about half way into the episode and certainly when the conversation begins to turn from what I would say would be the teachings I am familiar with in John’s work to those that were now new for me. John shares some controversial opinions in relation to people who identify as transgender, bisexual and gay; some of which I will note here I do not agree with. One of the fundamental values of the To Be Human podcast is the freedom of self-expression, so I want to note, though this conversation is controversial, it does not mean it should be silenced. I’m on a journey of self-exploration, and I find some of the more polarising conversations of my life have provided the most clarity; so I request, even encourage, that you lean into this and be mindful of your judgments no matter what way they may fall.

I will preface this; I was indeed more of a listener in this podcast, than a conversationalist. Enjoy this passion fuelled episode with John Gray.
