So much is packed into this short book. Mark has established Jesus as God's beloved Son, equal with God, able to heal and forgive, able to command evil spirits, yet the Pharisees refuse to believe. He heals a man's withered hand on the Sabbath, and they can't even appreciate the miracle. They judge him for doing good on the Sabbath. Jesus demonstrates that he is Lord of the Sabbath and reminds them again that the Sabbath is for humankind and not the other way around. Finally he calls they out for blaspheming the Holy Spirit because they knew in their hearts that everything he had said and done was truth from God, yet they chose not to believe.
