Description

Welcome to the Freedom Kids Podcast, brought to you by the children and young people who play at Felix Road Adventure Playground in Easton, Bristol.

In this episode, we explore the importance of healthy eating and understanding food. The children share what they have learned about nutrition, why it matters, what makes a meal healthy, and how food affects our bodies.

The group discusses the benefits of fruits and vegetables such as carrots, broccoli and avocados, and the dangers of eating too much sugar, including the risk of diabetes.

The episode also features a cooking session with the Children’s Kitchen Project, where they create a healthy pasta dish with homemade pesto using ingredients such as basil, broccoli, pumpkin seeds, and lemon juice.

The children reflect not only on how to prepare good food, but also on the unfairness of food insecurity, recognising that not everyone has access to healthy meals.
