April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and in this episode, we shed light on an incredibly important yet challenging topic: child abuse and neglect. The statistics are alarming. According to ChildHelp.org:
To discuss this critical issue, we spoke with Tabatha Ferrer, also known as Queen T, a Licensed Social Worker and school social worker. She is also the founder of The 4AIR Project, LLC, an organization dedicated to creating mental health and wellness spaces for youth to learn about mental health, improve self-awareness, and develop skills to manage life’s challenges.
This episode also highlights the importance of mandated reporting and offers guidance for social workers navigating this sensitive responsibility. Most states provide free training on mandated reporting to help professionals make informed decisions while prioritizing the safety of children.
