In the middle of the Israelites' wandering, God invited them into an even deeper experience of his presence through his instructions to build the tabernacle. The tabernacle became a visible sign of God's presence and guidance in real time. In addition, the people of God were called to specific works, just as we are today, in light of God's presence with us and his greater plan for the world through Jesus.
