Join us as we continue with the sixth part of this series on connecting. Connecting with God. Connecting with Community. Connecting with Creation.
Connecting to Creation: learning to live in the place that God put us.
Part of what it means to be human is to connect to the Good Creation that He made for us. We are created by God and woven into the gift of His beautiful creation, and that allows us to live within our limits as a people created by God. Good things grow, it's inherent in the nature of "goodness". We are responsible to care for the Earth and all of creation around us.
Is Jesus in this? Is Christ Himself in this idea?
Where do we find Jesus in the idea of Connecting to Creation?
In this fascinating sermon, Tim looks at the story of Jesus' baptism and his journey into the wilderness fasting among the wild beasts. In the Baptism of Jesus we see the Holy Spirit hovering over the water as a dove, as Jesus is coming out of the water. The Orthodox church has always seen this moment as God re-setting creation. Hovering over the water, even as the Spirit hovered over the water in the creation story of Genesis.
