A New Command, Love One Another
"I AM The Resurrection", Jesus
This Easter Tide Season we are Walking in the joy of the Resurrection. The Resurrection is not just an event, The Resurrection is a person, Jesus, God with us.
Is resurrection ONLY a hope for the next life? Or does Jesus, The Resurrection, offer us hope in this life also?
From our Gospel reading today in John chapter 13:
“A new command I give you: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another. This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples—when they see the love you have for each other.”
How do we feel about something new?
How do we feel when we are asked to do something new or different?
Excited? Cautious? Indifferent?
At the Last Supper, Jesus uses his remaining time with his friends to encourage them to do one thing, "Love one another, as I have loved you..."
Jesus reminds us that we are not alone in this command, rather that together with God, we can find those places where we can love one another...
What are those specific works of love that God is inviting us into with our families, our friends, our neighbors and neighborhoods?
