Easter Week 4
Listen to Cn Tim's sermon: Living Into Our Calling
Continuing in our theme of Jesus, risen from the dead, and defeating the powers that be, allowing us to live free in the truth that he loves us as we are.
How does this resurrected and victorious Jesus meet us in the midst of a sometimes cruel world?
Tim looks at chapters 1 and 2 of 1st Corinthians. Sometimes these chapters can be misunderstood. Sometimes people can make these passages into anti-intellectualism or dualism.
Paul's brilliance allows these passages to speak to both Jewish scribes and Greek scholars. Paul helps us to understand how Jesus meets us, small as we may feel, in this life. Jesus has himself chosen to be dismantled on the cross, and in so doing is able to dismantle the powers that be.
When we participate in, and live into the self-giving practices and ways of Jesus, then we too are pushing back and dismantling the powers that be.
