Join us for Mother Jen Keifer's sermon:
Creeds, Part 2
Part of worshiping together Liturgically, there are things that we say and pray together every week including the Nicene Creed.
Why do creeds exist?
What are they?
How did they come about?
How many are there?
Why do they matter?
What the church patriarchs and matriarchs experienced was a living encounter with the risen Jesus Christ. They experienced love, connection, and hope. Those profound encounters led them to consider what they believed, solid, dependable, real, powerful. They wanted it preserved, kept clear, and remembered always.
In this fascinating sermon series, we unpack the beautiful history of the Nicene Creed, a narrative summary and love story between God and creation. A narrative of who God is, and how God has acted.
Article 1 God the Father:
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, visible and invisible.
Leaders of the early church gathered in Nicea and wrestled faithfully with the scriptures of both New and Old Testament.
Today Jen takes a deeper look at what the framers of the Nicene Creed were trying to make clear, one word and one clause at a time, with each carefully chosen word.
We pray that you would know the goodness of God, revealed to us in Christ Jesus.
