Join us for Cn Tim Clayton's sermon: Creation Tide 6: The Beauty of Saint Francis

Saint Francis Sunday is the only Sunday a year that we keep to honor a Saint, and they're not even a biblical figure! Many churches keep St. Francis day on a Sunday, why???

The real answer is probably because we love our animals and pets. And so for one Sunday a year we bring our creatures with us and we bless them. For Trinity North Shore however, many of us bring our beloved creatures to service every week that we meet outdoors.
We love to be connected to God, our neighbors, and to all of Creation.
It's God's creation, and of course, "it is good".

But the main reason the church keeps this one Sunday to celebrate St. Francis, is because as G.K. Chesterton notes, "in Francis, the church has resolved a tension between the spiritual things and the created things."

Yet, Francis' story is a most remarkable journey. One that serves as a great encouragement to each of us. Join us for this fascinating history and insight into one of the most beloved Saints in the history of the world.

History of Creation Tide: The Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew (Eastern Orthodox) proposed in 1989 that September 1st (the first day of the Orthodox Church year) should be observed as a day “of protection of the natural environment”.
