For our second episode, Esther Scott joins all the way from Glasgow to discuss two films examining very different forms of obsession - both from the mind of Claire Denis.
Beau Travail (1999) follows the all-consuming jealousy of an officer in the French foreign legion for a handsome young recruit, captured with unforgettable splendour by Denis and cinematographer Agnes Godard.
Trouble Every Day (2001) is a provocative genre mash-up about a disease with cannibalistic symptoms. At times, Denis seems to be parodying the film's B-movie elements - daring you to laugh at its absurd depiction of the scientific community and Vincent Gallo's bizarre line-readings, before subjecting you to sequences of unspeakable horror.
