A little before 1 AM on the morning of July 27, 1996, Eric Rudolph dropped his green backpack underneath a bench in Atlanta, Georgia's crowded Olympic Centennial Park, set the bomb's timer for 55 minutes, and walked away. Before morning, two people would be dead and 111 would be injured — and within a week, the security guard who first spotted the bag and saved countless lives would be accused of planting the bomb himself.
