Grape
Vitis vinifera
Appearance: Grapevines are thick and woody. They have large heart-shaped leaves. Grapes grow in clusters and can be green, purple, or even dark blue.
Grapes were very familiar to people in the Bible. Israel’s spiritual health was often compared to a grape vine. Christ also used grapevines as a metaphor for His relationship with His believers.
[Jesus said] I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. I am the vine; ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
