Iris
Iris vericolor
Appearance: The iris is a springtime flower. It has many long, narrow leaves that grow in clumps. Its flowers grow on long stems and have three petals that grow up and three that grow down. Iris flowers can be many colors including white, pink, yellow, and purple.
Another flower thought to be included with the lilies of the Bible, the iris is a symbol of royalty. The writer of Hosea says that Israel will flourish like a lily when they are faithful to God.
I will be as the dew unto Israel: he shall grow as the lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon.
