Rue
Ruta graveolens
Appearance: Rue is an herb with leaves that have small, feathery leaflets. Its flowers are yellow and have four petals.
Rue has a very bitter taste when eaten; perhaps it was included in the “bitter herbs” of the Bible. When the people were disobedient, God punished them by sending them bitter food to eat.
Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink.
