In episode three of our second season of our Songwalks podcast, you’ll meet Ian Cusson who lives just a couple of hours outside of Toronto. Ian composes art song, opera, choral music, and orchestral work. He’s of Metis and French Canadian descent and his work often explores the intersection of Western and Indigenous cultures. He’s worked with the Canadian Opera Company and the National Arts Centre and is making a huge impact on the classical music scene in Canada. Today you’ll be hearing a gorgeous piece that he wrote for the Amadeus Choir and the Guelph Chamber Choir. It’s called will I, night. Music he set to a poem by the Cree Metis poet Marilyn Dumont.
