and here,
the sky,
the hush,
the silence,
the end
of a summer’s day,
the lapping
of waters,
laughter
from neighbours,
the distant bark
of a dog,
the final song
of a blackbird,
atop the afterglow,
the fire-lit tips
of trees,
in the last clouds
like islands,
the mists
along the valleys,
fragrance
of night,
the coming
of stars
and sleep
another dream,
another life
for today.
