Though the high king of Caedia has been dethroned, all hope of a positive change for the future is cast aside as Laidley, son of the fallen king, ascends to his new position. Not only does he seek to avenge his father's death, but to claim his own spot in history. With the aid of Merrik, the Captain of Guard, those who were responsible for the former high king's termination are now within his sights. Given a choice between mercy and vengeance, Laidley and his sister Luella must decide which path to take and see whether they can be allies or enemies.
