This episode of the Self Made Podcast is a pleasure to welcome Dr Emilia Thompson PHD to the show.
Many people struggle with what to do post dieting phase.
They feel trapped tracking macros and weighing every single thing they eat to stay in shape leading to a lot of anxiety and guilt as well as missing other amazing parts of life outside the gym.
On the other side of the coin we have people who struggle to understand nutrition and are pulled left and right by "coaches" who claim it has to be a certain way or you need to cut out a certain food,
If either of these scenarios sound familiar then this is the episode for you!! Emilia is a health coaches whose main goal is to help people improve their relationship with food and their bodies and in this episode we break down many aspects of this in depth. Genuinely one of my favourite episodes to research as Emilia's content is outstanding and some of the most no BS actionable content out there.
In this episode we talk the pros and cons of various diet approaches including macros and meal plans, reverse dieting strategies, BS coaches in the industry as well as starting with a light hearted look at her appearance on the show first dates.
But the main topic we speak is empathy! When it is important from a coach and clients experience and when it is not best serving anyone. We speak about the difference between empathy and compassion and when tough love is needed in pursuit of a bigger picture goal.
