Description

In this episode of the Self Made Podcast, it is a pleasure to welcome Dr Hassan Zaid to the show.

Hassan is the main reason I have so much faith in Chiropractors. Not only is the man seriously intelligent, lives and breaths strength training but he was also the first person to crack my own neck! I remember how nervous I was walking into his practice as I had seen enough Die Hard movies to know you crack someone's neck you instantly die but Hassan not only put my mind at ease he instantly relieved my pain and gave me practical tips that improved my performance on the gym floor.

One of the things that really sets Hassan apart from many Chiropractors is that he truly understands the gym. As a competitive powerlifter himself as well as working with many top-level athletes, strongmen and bodybuilders he understands how training affects the body and how to optimise your mobility, stability and strength (to borrow a phrase from another beastly Chiro Mr Shallow a man who is spoken highly of by Hassan in this show)

In this episode, we discuss his powerlifting career, the time when he almost diet on a failed squat attempt, and the mindset of success before we deep dive into what is really causing your mobility issues. Is stretching the answer? What role does the gym play and more!

One of the most popular posts this man wrote was his article about how your hamstrings are not tight something that flies in the face of what many people think. We break this down in-depth and look at why we get the sensation of tightness, what the issue actually is and how we go about creating stability in the hip, knee, shoulder and neck.

But that is not all!! This episode is worth every second of its run time as we end the show discussing the role the brain has in mobility, how therapy can actually help your movement, what he has learned from therapy and a little announcement about a diagnosis I got this weekend.
