LAREDO, Texas - Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Nuevo León Governor Samuel Alejandro García Sepúlveda met at the Colombia Solidarity International Bridge to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between their states.
The agreement aims to enhance border security measures in order to prevent undocumented immigration and drugs crossing from Nuevo León into Texas and improve the flow of traffic across the Colombia Solidarity International Bridge, the one land port of entry that links Nuevo León and Texas.
The agreement goes into effect immediately.
Under the agreement, Nuevo León will increase inspections of trucks crossing into Texas. As a result, the Texas Department of Public Safety will no longer inspect all the trucks coming into Texas from Nuevo León.
