WESLACO, RGV - The biggest obstacle to improving healthcare in the Rio Grande Valley is public transportation to the offices of a primary care physician or a community clinic, argues a top public health official.
Eduardo ‘Eddie’ Olivarez is chief administrative officer for Hidalgo County Health & Human Services. He was a panelist at a diabetes forum hosted by Unidos Contra la Diabetes and sponsored by Knapp Community Care Foundation.
The event was held at the UT-Rio Grande Valley’s Center for Innovation & Commercialization.
In this podcast, Olivarez and state Rep. Armando 'Mando' Martinez of Weslaco speak about the connection between a good public transportation system and quality healthcare.
