BROWNSVILLE, Texas - The Texas House Committee on Transportation recently held a field hearing in Brownsville.
Held at the UT-Rio Grande Valley campus in Brownsville, the hearing was hosted by UTRGV and the City of Brownsville.
After the hearing, the Rio Grande Guardian International News Service interviewed three leaders in the region.
Brownsville’s interim city manager, Helen Ramirez, spoke about her city’s first mobility transportation plan, which will include Space.
State Rep. Terry Canales of Edinburg, who chairs the House panel, spoke about the funding challenges faced by the Texas Department of Transportation.
And Eduardo Campirano, port director for the Port of Brownsville, spoke about the movement of cargo starting at the dock, not at the gates of the port.
