Description

The last chapter of the book of John often gets called the "Epilogue" of the book by Bible scholars. We've gone through this gospel chapter by chapter since Christmas. Every Sunday we've seen John presenting Jesus- his miracles and his teachings so that we may see him- God's true Son, and yet truly man. So that we could see him in his saving us from our sins.

Now we've seen Jesus rise. We've seen him proclaim his victory over not just his death but ours too. Now both we and his disciples are left with a question. Now what? We have been set free from sin. Now what? We will not die, but live. Now what? John's epilogue takes on that question. We'll cover this last chapter in two Sundays here at Hope.

This Sunday, I invite you to come and see a repeated miracle. It's almost a shot for shot remake of the moment that Jesus called Peter to be his disciple. You can read it in Luke 5:1-11.

You can see it click for John and for Peter in the account of John 21: 1-14. You can see the moment they recognized that it was Jesus on the shore, and that it was Jesus who would always be with them.

I invite you and urge you to come and see this. This Jesus teaching you how to put everything you've seen together, so that you can see- he is the God who will never leave you, and who will bless you and keep you, and who will raise you from death to life in heaven.
