I like clothes and a tour of my closet reveals that I have many suits everything I need for every occasion, casual, business, and church. However, as the summer is winding down, I have this great temptation to add to my collection by buying a new seersucker suit. Taking advantage of the sale price for a summertime suit, that I don’t really need but I greatly want.
In God’s Garden, Adam and Eve had everything they needed for life. Lovely surroundings, great weather, wonderful food, and best of all they had a mighty God who walked them, talked with them, and told them they were his own.
Genesis chapter 3 reveals the details of the temptation and fall of Adam and Eve. Like me, they had everything they needed but they succumbed to their desire to have something that did not need but greatly wanted.
A sign that temptation is near is when we put more focus on what we don’t have instead of celebrating the good things that we do have. Temptation is near when we forget that God is near. However, the temptation is defeated when we know that God is with us.
