In many communities in the south where I teach the gospel, pastor, live and play public school is starting. Among those starting is my youngest granddaughter Noa whose very first day of school is this week.
Imagine how different your life would be if you had never learned to read, understand numbers, or been exposed to the wonders of science. Education provides our children with the wisdom, discernment, and knowledge needed to reach the fulness of life that is God’s intent for us all.
The magazine Education Week reports 27 school shooting have taken place in 2022, slightly less than the record high of 34 set in 2021. There have been 119 school shootings since 2018 when the publication first began tracking these tragic incidents.
However, right now as the school year dawns there has been zero school shooting. Let us pray that it stays at zero for this academic year and beyond.
Pray with me please:
Father we praise you for making a way for our children to have an education. We thank you for calling talented people to teach our children. We thank for the staff that supports them. May your great blessings flow to them.
Father senseless gun violence has become common place in our society. Nowhere is its more senseless than in our schools. 27 incidents so far this year including 19 children and two adults killed in Uvalde, Texas.
Psalm 127:3 tells us that children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. Father we ask for your protection of your heritage.
We are crying to you Father asking for the killing in our schools to stop. We are crying to you for zero school shootings in this academic year.
It is in your son Jesus name we pray; let us all say Amen.
