Use the Google machine and type in the phase “A roadmap for Godly living” there you will find any number of articles, posts, blogs, and videos on the subject.   I guess this devotional will become my humble addition to the topic.

In Genesis 17 we find Abram a ninety-nine-year-old man who just 13 years before became a father for the first time.  His son Ishmael was born by way of Hagar, his wife Shari slave whom she gave to Abram in her effort to help God with his promise to make her husband the father of many nations.

However, when we take God’s work and promise into our hands, bad things can and do happen.  Shari became jealous of Hagar treating her with contempt.  The son Ishmael would be no walk in the park as describe by angel of the Lord in Genesis 16:12 “ he will be like a wild donkey. His hand will be against everyone, and everyone’s hand will be against him.”

God steps Into all this trouble telling Abram in Genesis 17:1-2 that He is God Almighty, and if you live in my presence, and be blameless, I will set up my covenant between me and you, and I will multiply you greatly.”

The mileposts on the roadmap for Godly living are simple.  One, Live in God’s presence Two, by living in God’s presence we will live a blameless life. Three, God has a covenant for us.  A covenant that will prosper us, a covenant that will have a positive impact our families, a covenant that will grow your faith and draw you into a closer relationship with God.

That my friends is a roadmap for Godly living.
