For nearly 70 years Thelma Wright Edwards has been connecting the dots seeking justice for the murder of her cousin Emmett Till.   The dots connected when in 2020 the U.S. Justice Department reopened the case prompted by the release of the book "The Blood of Emmett Till," in which Carolyn Bryant Donham appears to recant her 1955 claim that 14-year-old Emmett made advances toward the then 21-year-old woman.

However, the potential promised joy of justice that connecting the dots of the DOJ probe could bring was shattered when the investigation was officially closed on Monday.  The reason for the alleged recanting of Carolyn Bryant Donham’s crucial testimony never came.  Without it, officials could not prove Donham’s claims that a 14-year-old boy grabbed and verbally threatening her were actually false.

The dots were connected but no joy was found.

This Sunday at Greater Saint Peter we will explore how Mary the mother of Jesus connected the dots about her virgin pregnancy and came to understand the joy in being chosen by God.  My Advent teaching will come from Luke 1:39-56 and it is entitled Connecting The Dots of Joy.

Join us at 10:00 AM in person at 9540 Fayetteville Road in Jonesboro or on Facebook @GSP9540, so until tomorrow blessings, peace, and love.
