It had been a long day for Jesus and his disciples they left Galilee and went to Judea on the other side of the Jordan. Large crowds followed them as Jesus healed the sick, avoided the tricks of the Pharisees, and taught the gospel to his disciples.
During this time people of all stripes came to see Jesus including some little children who were brought to him so that he might lay hands on them and pray. However, the disciples not thinking the children were important enough told them to go away.
Seeing this Jesus rebuked his disciples saying “Let the little children come to me and stop keeping them away because the kingdom of heaven belongs to them, then he laid his hands on them and went on his way.
Sure, we say that children are our future but what are we doing with that future. The Children Defense Fun reports that 170 Classrooms would be filled with children and teens who have been killed by gun violence since 2017.
We need to be like Jesus, laying our hands and praying for our children especially as we start another school year.
