As humans we are skeptical creatures.  We question the motives of religious, sports and political leaders.   We question the value of an education, we question which college football team is #1, we even question the reason why folks should wear masks during a deadly pandemic.

However, the one thing we human do not question is death.  Dying is undebatable it is a matter of when not if.  Job 14 is true and clear; “Man, that is born of a woman is of few days.”

Despite the certainty of death folks in the early church had questions not about death but if there is a life after death.   Paul presents a three-part answer to the question in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, this is his answer: One, As Christians unlike the rest of the world we have hope regarding death.  Two, our hope is built on Jesus who was risen from the dead. Three, because Jesus defeated death anyone who died believing in him will be risen from the dead by Jesus and will have everlasting life.

A healthy skepticism is when you're not doubting something just for the sake of it, but you are questioning things to discover the truth.

This truth is easy as one, two, three: Jesus died, Jesus and was risen from the dead, and if we believe in him, we will rise from the dead as well.

So, let us encourage each other with these unquestionable words.
