To be an apostle is to be an emissary, and ambassador an envoy. In Greek an apostle derives from a word meaning one who is sent off to convey a message, to do a task, to be of service.
Realizing that the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; Jesus prayed to God the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.
The Gospels Matthew, Mark, and Luke each provide accounts of Jesus choosing, praying, anointing, and charging The 12 to be His Apostles. In Luke (Luke 6:12-13) Jesus went on a high mounting spending all night in prayer before selecting The 12. In Matthew (Matthew 10:1) Jesus empowered the Apostles to defeat evil spirits along with the power to heal every kind of disease and sickness. In Mark (Mark 3:14) Jesus calls his Apostles to go out and tell God’s message to others.
Jesus is calling you and me to be an Apostle. Right now, in 2023 Jesus is calling us to be an emissary, and ambassador an envoy.
We are empowered to defeat evil spirits to heal every kind of disease and to spread God’s message of love, peace, and joy to others.
So, the question is as a follower of Christ how are you doing as an Apostle?
