Rosalynn Carter, former First Lady of the United States, and of the state of Georgia has died she was 96.

Married for 77 years to former President Jimmy Carter they were life mates in every way possible.  Forging the closest of professional, political, and personal bonds.

Mrs. Carter’s death especially on the eve of Thanksgiving and the holiday season reminds us that the death of a loved one is never easy.

We know that in his 99th year President Carter is a man of enormous faith. We pray for him and with him as he seeks comfort from the Lord for his loss, his pain, and his grief.

Psalm 34:18tells us that “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”

The death of a loved one will come to us all perhaps once or perhaps many times.  Regardless, God will always be there for us as He is now for President Carter.

During the holidays when the pain of our loss is more acute let us remember that weeping may endure for a night, but joy and all its glory will come in the morning.
