In a sermon delivered on October 9, 2022 Pastor Marben discusses the power of God's love especially for the lost as told to us by Jesus in the Parable Of The Lost Sheep.

Sermon Highlights:

Jesus knew the value of one lamb, that is why when the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”

He told them a parable about a lamb.  As you know Jesus often spoke in parables and what is a parable?  It is a simple story convey a moral principle:

Jesus told parables in all four gospels:  Matthew, Luke, John, Mark.

Let’s examine 3 moral principles conveyed by Jesus in the parable of the Lost Sheep:

1. All Sheep Have Value, and God knows

2. The entire flock is impacted when a sheep is lost.

The Sheppard makes the decision to leave his flock to search for the lost lamb.  Some may argue with justification that one lost lamb is not worth endangering the flock.

However, God’s justification is that one lost sheep is worth the search, for a lost lamb impacts the flock.  Think of the cost to the flock when a young man is lost to a life of drugs.  Think of the cost to flock when a girl is lost to sex trafficking.  Think of the cost to flock when an older person is not given the respect, attention and care they need because they are viewed as a burden instead of being a valued person.

We can be lost in and out of the flock:

Jesus is speaking to Pharisees and the teachers

3. God will do everything possible to get his lost sheep back.
