Who is the best airline in the United Stated in 2022? We looked at 10 carriers and used some statistics such as on-time performance, lost luggage, and cancelations then we considered how the airline does meeting the expectations of the travel. Now I know most people do not expect much from airlines these days but some carriers have higher expectations than others. Finally, we look at other aspects of the airlines including their route network; frequency of their flights; your chances of getting stranded if something goes wrong; if they have in-flight entertainment in the back of the seats, or offer some other form of entertainment, and how well it works.
Some who rate the airlines only look at their statistics which can give you a false impression of how good an airline is. For example, airlines may have some of the best numbers but that airline may not have the route network most of the competition has and does not serve as many places where bad weather can be a factor.
A perfect example is Hawaiian Airlines which rates as number one or two in all the statistics. However, Hawaiian has very few routes that fly to places that are known for bad weather such as their Honolulu to Boston flight. In addition, a large part of the Hawaiian system is not operating right now such as flights to Tokoyo and the rest of the Pacific Rim.
