United Airlines has a long and storied history.
As I child I flew many times with my family between our home in Southern California to Detroit to visit family back when such fabled airliners as the DC-8, DC-10, and 747 were covering runs between the two cities.
As an adult, I have flown United many times mainly out of Spokane to such places as Phoenix and Charlotte. The time we had major problems was during major storms including a blizzard while changing planes in Denver that caused us to sit for most of the day.
However, in the last few years, United gain a reputation of having bad customer service that culminated with the removal of a doctor from one of their regional flights by dragging him off the airplane that garnered national attention.
But times seem to be changing for United Airlines. In the past year they have made some changes that indicate that they are looking to go head to head as a premium carrier against Delta Airlines instead of racing to the bottom like American Airlines. This includes reversing its decision to remove Inflight Entertainment from the setbacks and having all mainline planes having IFE by 2025. This is just one of the ways they are trying to turn things around.
The question is, what is United Airlines like to fly in 2022? Recently I flew from Los Angeles to Chicago on a United Airlines 757-300 on a red-eye flight then changed to an Air Wisconsin-operated CRJ200 for United Express between Chicago and Cedar Rapids.
I will give you an honest opinion on the entire travel experience from booking the flight on the United website, the airport experience, onboard experience, and overall customer service. I recently review a trip on American Airlines so how will the flights compare and has United turned the corner. Those questions and more will be answered in this podcast along with travel news that has broken recently.
