Because the movie was so hip and cool, we knew this was the best time to discuss the origin of the most popular toy ever. we discuss the life of creator, Ruth Handler and what led her to creating dolls. The names, Barbie and Ken were inspired by the Handler's kids. Yes, Barbie and Ken were SIBLINGS. But Ruth was ready to give little girls something more than having a baby doll. She wanted women to know they had choices. What an icon! We also touch on Mattel's rival, Hasbro and the struggle they faced trying to compete with Barbie.
